Week 3
30/30 Vision
A group of rhinoceroses (shouldn’t that be rhinoceri?) is called a “crash.” Rhinos can only see about thirty feet in front of them and can run up to thirty miles per hour. When a crash begins to charge, moving at full speed in untamable recklessness, they can’t see far enough ahead to trust where they’re going or even to course-correct. I think that is a beautiful design by God. We should let our worship be like a crash of rhinos: a passionate pursuit, a fearless fervor, a committed charge into battle. (McManus, The Barbarian Way)
When you sing, two of your heart-callings collide: your love of God and of music. Here, you get to embrace both obsessions. You should not waste it, but rather call on it as you sing.
The world will say, “You get what you pay for” or “What you put in is what you get out.” In God’s economy, it’s not fair like that. What you put in comes back multiplied! When you lay what you love at His feet, He returns a fulfillment that far outweighs your sacrifice.
Passion is contagious; it’s isn’t something that is taught, it’s something that is caught. Go forward with this challenge: don’t worship in the way you feel you should. Worship in the way that God desires: dancing, shouting, unashamedly proclaiming His love and truth, as untamable as a crash of rhinos. Let it be contagious as you lead people to the fertile place of preparation for the work of the Holy Spirit.
